KATHUA, Apr 21: Sending a strong message to its detractors, the Modi-led NDA Government decided to launch the Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan to “generate efforts to increase social harmony across villages”, “promote rural development” and “foster farmers’ welfare and livelihood of the poor”.
This was the observation of BJP MLA from Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia while launches Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan at Panchayat Changran, block Kathua in Village farmer assembly. On this occasion, Director Rural Development BDO, ACD and Sarpanches and Panches besides local population in large number participated in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Jasrotia said that the prime focus of the campaign which is being run by the ministries of Agriculture, Labour, Rural Development, Social Justice, and Information and Broadcasting in coordination with the states is to focus on issues pertaining to rural development, farmers’ earnings, social harmony and welfare of SC & ST population.
Adding further MLA said that ‘Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan’ (Village Self Governance Campaign) aims to generate nation-wide efforts to increase social harmony across villages, strengthen Panchayati Raj, promote rural development, and foster farmers’ progress. Under the Abhiyan, ‘Social Harmony Programme’ will be conducted in all Gram Panchayats, supported collaboratively by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. In this programme, information regarding the various schemes of the Government to foster social justice will be provided, he added.
He said the objective of this programme is also to promote agriculture. In these assemblies, information regarding various schemes such as the Fasal Bima Yojna, Social Health Card etc. will be provided to farmers and their suggestions for bringing about improvements in agriculture will be solicited. The topics of discussions in these Gram Sabhas will include: – Gram Panchayat Development Plans for local economic development, optimum utilization of funds available with Panchayati Raj Institutions, clean drinking water and sanitation, role of women in village and rural development.
