Gupta pointed out that more than 20,000 registrations approximately on experience and skill basis were done under the J&K  State Pharmacy Act which were accepted and legally passed by the State Assembly and the Cabinet. There were no Pharmacy Colleges in the J&K earlier resulting in huge dearth of people to dispense Medicines against the prescriptions of the doctors.
That it may not be out of place to mention that Drugs and Cosmetics Act of Government of India was fully in force in the State under which licenses were issued to such registered pharmacists. Many people registered as pharmacists after getting Medical Assistant training for two years in recognised Para Medical Institutes in the State were also registered under the J&K Pharmacy Act.
Any denial to renew the above mentioned registrations would result in loss of livelihood being provided by 20,000 Medical outlets which would mean snatching bread and butter from 5 lakh people, Gupta added.
JCCI requested the Lt Governor to consider these facts and circumstances under which the said registrations were done.
Gupta also reminded the Administration for reconsideration of irrational increase of one time Road Tax on motor vehicles imposed last year. He also sought Govt support for MSME sector in the J&K UT.
Other office bearers of the JCCI also accompanied Rakesh Gupta.
Meanwhile, Rakesh Gupta also condemned the act of disrespect to Gurudwara Sri Nankana Sahib by some mischievous elements in Pakistan.
