JAMMU, Sept 5: While claiming that Government of India has promised Rs 2 lakh free insurance cover each, for all the 45,000 Panchayat members in J&K, the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference Chairman Anil Sharma today said that Sarpanches and Panches would render all possible help to the Government in the restoration or peace and normalcy in J&K.
Talking to media persons here today, JKPC Chairman claimed that a delegation of 25 Sarpanches, including 13 from Kashmir Division met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi two days ago. He said the meeting was held under very cordial atmosphere and they all were listened by the Home Minister with full attention and his staff. He said the Sarpanches discussed the issues related to J&K and also requested for lifting up of restrictions as the general public was suffering.
Sharma said JKPC has assured full cooperation and help to the Union Government for the restoration of peace and normalcy in the State. He said even the Sarpanches from Kashmir extended full cooperation and support without any fear or influence from any quarter.
The JKPC Chairman said three major packages related to development, employment and security cover were demanded by the JKPC delegation. The Home Minister has promised Rs 2 lakh free insurance cover to all the 45,000 Panchayat members in J&K. The Union Government also assured Rs 3000 crore development package for Panchayats as they had projected demand of rupees one Crore for each Panchayat in J&K.
The Union Home Minister also promised employment package and assured at least five Government jobs for five educated youth in each village of Jammu and Kashmir in next 2-3 months. The JKPC chairman claimed that Home Minister has assured that all the restrictions in J&K will be lifted in phased manner shortly and security of Sarpanches will be strengthened.
