Sarpanch assaults Headmaster, teacher

RAJOURI, Dec 29: Headmaster and a teacher of Government Middle School Hill Tak, Darhal, were allegedly assaulted by Sarpanch Upper Dadoch and his goons after the victims refused to forge date of birth of the accused in school record.
The injured Headmaster and the teacher, identified as Mohd Abrar and Mohd Yunus, respectively, were admitted at Darhal Hospital where doctors referred them to District Hospital Rajouri.
The incident took place yesterday evening and even as Police has detained the accused Sarpanch and some others, teachers and locals held a protest at Darhal today seeking stern action against the accused. They also alleged that Police failed to protect the teachers despite prior information about intentions of the accused.
Reports said that the accused Sarpanch, Mohd Afsar was pressuring the schools Headmaster and teacher to forge his date of birth from 07-03-1969 to 07-04-1984 in the school record. As the teacher refused to do the same, the accused Sarpanch threatened the former to face consequence and left the school premises.
After some time, the school Headmaster came to know through some locals that the said Sarpanch along with his goons was planning to waylay the teacher. Even as the Headmaster telephonically informed the Darhal Police Station about intentions of the Sarpanch, the Police asked the former not to feel scared and assured that nothing would happen.
However, when the Headmaster along with teacher was on way to home, the accused Sarpanch and his goons assaulted them with stones and sticks. The victim Headmaster and the teacher, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, were later shifted to Darhal hospital and then referred to District Hospital Rajouri.
Even as accused Sarpanch was detained later on, teachers and locals of Darhal held a strong protest demonstration under the banner of Teachers Joint Front and Peer Panchal Regional Employees Front
The demonstration was held in front of ZEO Office Darhal and the protesters were demanding registration of FIR under Section 307 and intervention by the District administration for ensuring stern action against the culprits.
