POONCH, Mar 19: The police has arrested a Sarpanch in an attempt to murder case registered against him at Surankote Police Station.
A police officer said that Sarpanch Faizlabad, Abdul Majid, son of Ramzani, was wanted by police in case FIR No. 286/ 2018 under sections 307/326/ 323/341 and 147 RPC. He had allegedly attacked his rival, Mohd Riaz during recent Panchayat elections and was evading his arrest.
The police party led by SHO, Surankote, Insp Anil Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Surankote arrested the Sarpanch. He was booked on November 17, but could not be arrested since then.
