SAMBA, Apr 16: Though situated 15 kms away from district headquarters of Samba the inhabitants of Sandhi village in Nonath Panchayat in this era of 21st century are being denied communication service. The student community in the village is totally perturbed as till date no mobile company has installed a tower for signal in their village, due to which the people are left behind in telecom facilities.
Kamini, who is a college student, told Daily Excelsior that our classes are now running online and we have to come to Ghagwal which is six Kms away from her village to study. This way they have to pay mini bus charges also to reach Ghagwal and this is totally expensive for them.
Parshotam, a student of class 12, said “I had to stay at my relatives’ house many times to study as our village does not have a signal to talk even if there is any eventuality, which causes us a lot of trouble”. “Many times we have to talk outside the village or by climbing the high hills of the area to make a phone call even if there is some pleasant or bad news”, he added.
However Arpan Pangotra, the Sarpanch of Nonath Panchayat said “It has been a few months since I became Sarpanch and I was already aware of this issue,. We have made the district officials aware of it many times before, but no one takes pains to resolve the issue and problem still exists”.
She said “We have just told the Member Parliament and Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh about this and he has promised to solve the issue as early as possible”.
