Samba police rescues 16 bovines, seizes 2 vehicles

SAMBA, June 28: Samba police successfully foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 16 bovines in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba.
According to the report, a police party of P S Samba led by Inspector Rajesh Jasrotia, while performing vehicle checking duty at surprise naka point near Basanter bridge, Samba signalled a canter vehicle bearing registration. No. JK08G-2502 to stop, which was coming from Vijaypur side.
On seeing the naka party, the driver accelerated the speed of vehicle and abandoned it at a few metres distance from naka point when chased by police.
During checking of the vehicle, 12 bovines were found laden inside it. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
A case FIR No. 160/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
In another similar incident, A naka party of PS Samba led by Inspector Rajesh Jasrotia while performing vehicle checking duty at Main Chowk Samba signalled a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing Regd. No. JK08D-8385 to stop which was coming from Kathua side and moving towards Srinagar. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated the speed and abandoned the vehicle at few meters from naka point.
During checking of the vehicle, four bovines were found laden inside it. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 161/2020 U/S 279/188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Samba and investigation started.
