Samba police intensifies raid against illicit liquor trade

JAMMU, July 24: In its continuous drive against the distillation of illicit liquor and its sale, a Police party of Police Station Samba headed by Inspector Ravinder Parihar, SHO P/S Samba and the officials of district Special Branch Samba headed by Madan Lal, DySP, Incharge District Special Branch, Samba under the direct supervision of Anil Magotra, SSP Samba and Vijay Pal Singh, DySP HQ Samba, conducted raid at the forest area of Village Dhakki Gouran, Samba.
During raid, 30 litres of illicit liquor recovered, 1300 litres of Lahan was destroyed, two running distilleries with other material used for making illicit liquor were seized from the spot and two accused persons namely Joginder Singh S/o Fateh Singh & Parshotam Singh S/o Jamal Singh both residents of Dassain Tehsil and district Samba were arrested. Accordingly, case FIR No. 129/2014 and FIR No. 130/2014 U/S 48 (E) Excise Act were registered and further investigation carried on.
The SSP said that the Samba police ahs intensified its drive against the illicit liquor trade in the district.
In another incident, Police Party of P/S Samba headed by Inspector Ravinder Parihar, SHO P/S Samba under the supervision of Anil Magotra, SSP Samba and Vijay Pal Singh, DySP HQ Samba conducted raid near Shivam Guest House Samba, nabbed five gamblers namely, Kishan S/o Nathu Ram R/o village Tokariabagh Uttar Pradesh at present Arazi Samba (2) Mintu Kumar s/o Raj Kumar r/o Chitalgampura Samastipur Bihar at present Arazi Samba (3) Sanju Kumar s/o Sham Lal r/o Arazi Samba (PHE employee) and recovered Rs. 33500/- as gambling amount (AKADI) alongwith playing cards from the spot. All were booked under 13 Gambling Act.
