SAMBA, Dec 19: Samba District Chess Championship concluded at Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, here today.
Over 70 boys and girls participated in the event.
Lot of close fighting matches were played with great enthusiasm.
In girls category, Mehak Sharma won the first prize while Madhavi Sambyal got second position and Simran Thappa won third prize.
In boys under 14 years Mannat Sharma got 1st prize, while Aklavya bagged 2nd and Deewankar Singh claimed 3rd places.
In senior category, Atul Singh bagged 1st place while Varun got second and Abhimanyu Manyal clinched 3rd place. Selected players will participate in the forthcoming State Chess Championship.
Meanwhile, AJKCA also conducted the training session through projector for the local youth which was attended by lot of children and seniors.
Students and senior citizens thanked AJKCA for conducting such program.
Atul Kumar Gupta,President “All J&k Chess Association” was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed the prizes among the winners.
Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, Chairman Chess in school program, Milap Singh and Rakesh Sharma were the guests of honour.
The vote of thanks was presented by Jangbir Singh Sambyal, Principal of the school who is also president Chess in school program for Samba district.
Other guests present on the occasion were Ritu Jamwal, Dheeraj Guleria, Raghbir Singh, Harish Sambyal, Rajat Singh, Divya Sambyal, Gagandeep, Priya, Rashi Sharma and Shama Sharma.
