Sahara chief Subrata Roy to remain in Tihar jail till March 25

NEW DELHI, Mar 13:
Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy will have to remain in Tihar jail till March 25, and will have to celebrate Holi behind bars.
A Supreme Court bench of Justices K S Panicker Radhakrishnan and J S Khehar today did not assemble for hearing the petition of Sahara Group.
The petitioner has contended that his detention in jail was illegal since he has neither been convicted for contempt of court nor has he been given an opportunity to defend himself.
The Apex court had earlier directed the Sahara Group chief to come up with a concrete proposal for refund of Rs 25,000 crores to the investors. His petition for release on bail was rejected by the Supreme Court in the absence of a concrete proposal for refund of investors’ money. (UNI)
