Speakers recall services of Vaishnavi

JAMMU, Aug 8: In commemoration with birth anniversary of veteran Kashmiri Pandit leader and RSS ideologue, Pt Amarnath Vaishnavi, R V Learning Foundation (RVLF) Pt. A N Vaishnavi scholarships to Kashmir Pandit children living in various migrant camps around Jammu. In this connection an event was organised at K P Sabha Ambphalla here which was presided over by Ashok Koul, general secretary (Org), BJP J&K UT.
Dr. Manoj Dhar , Ex VC Jammu University, K K Khosa , president Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu and Dr Rajiv Bhat , retd (DC) were the guests of honour.
Other dignitaries who attended were Kuldeep Saproo, founder R M K Studios, Dr. Mahesh Koul,Scholar Prof Virender Rawal, president awardee, Sandhya Dhar, founder of Jigar Foundation, Shivani Koul Bhat, Artist and Ashok Kangan, Social activist. The programme was anchored by P K Raina and the event organization was supported by youth volunteers Sahil Pandita , founder Rising Athletes of Jagti and. Kanwal Pandita.
Rohini Vaishnavi, grand daughter of Pandit Amarnath Vaishnavi and the founder of RV Learning Foundation said that the scholarship served as a source of inspiration for the awardees. Taking a cue from the life of Pandit Vaishnavi, who was from humble background but dared to dream big, the scholarship was aimed at inspiring the students to dream big to achieve big. She recalled the contribution of Amarnath Vaishnavi in ensuring a special quota of seats for the displaced Kashmiri Pandit students in universities across India.
Dr Manoj Dhar urged the students to learn contemporary skills to stay relevant in an ever-changing economic milieu. Ashok Koul remembered his association with Pandit Vaishnavi starting early seventies. He recalled his role in Kashmiri Pandit agitation of 1967 and the slogan coined by him, “Jaikara Har Har Mahadev”. The slogan became a source of inspiration during the agitation and afterwards.
Dr Rajiv Bhat urged the children to always remember the contribution of all great men and women who gave their lives to retain the Kashmiri Pandit identity. He remembered the great men like Kalhan, Jonaraja and Kashyap Bandhu. He said that Amarnath Vaishnavi would fight for the issues pertaining to Kashmiri Pandits while leading a simple life. He was a rare combination of being a Karmayogi and visionary.
K K Khosa applauded the efforts of RVLF and urged the scholarship awardee students to give back to the society when they grow up into successful individuals. The event concluded with vote of thanks by poet and author Balkrishan Sanyasi.
