Rs 30,000 fine imposed for traffic violations

Reasi, Dec 2: Based on number of complaints of overcharging of fare, pressure horns & overloading in mini-buses Taxi/cabs received by ARTO Reasi, Rajesh Gupta, his team swung into action & conducted an extensive checking from Pouni to Bhambla route.
During the inspection, Gupta enquired directly from passengers about the fare being charged and also held a meeting with the public and their elected representatives to sort out the issues regarding the transport in their area.
He assured the public that strict action under Motor Vehicles Act shall be initiated against the all violaters & offenders.
During the extensive checking, the team challaned five Vehicles to the tune of Rs. 30000.
The ARTO also sensitised the drivers about Motor vehicle Act and urged upon them to follow all the traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as safety of the others.
During checking, the ARTO emphansized that traffic violations lead to road accidents killing lot number commuters on daily basis and added adherence to traffic norms can avert majority of road accidents besides making commutation hassle free.
While interacting with the drivers as well as general public, Gupta asked them to follow COVID SOPs issued by Government of J&K UT from time to time.
