Rohingya among three thieves held

JAMMU, Oct 2: A Rohingya refugee was among the three persons who were arrested for their involvement in two separate cases of burglary, one in the premises of an under-construction building of National Investigation Agency (NIA).
A police spokesperson said that on September 27, 2023, one Rayeed Ahmed Wani son of Najam Din Wani of Majeen, Sidhra, approached Police Post Sidhra with a complaint, stating therein that some unknown persons decamped with his iron gate.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 386/2023 under section 457/380 of the IPC was registered at the concerned police station and investigation taken up.
During investigation, he said, a party of Police Post Sidhra under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota, Aakash Kohli, assisted by SHO Nagrota, Inspector Vishav Partap Singh, and under the overall supervision of SP Rahul Charak, rounded up one Syed ul Karim of Burma at present Narwal, Jammu.
During sustained questioning, the accused person confessed to his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure, the stolen iron gate and a Passion Pro motorcycle along with some bathroom accessories already stolen, were recovered, said the police spokesperson.
In another case registered on September 26, 2023, one Rahul Gupta son of Mohan Lal Gupta of Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, contractor, NIA building at Sidhra, alleged theft of two iron poles from the premises of the under-construction building.
On this, a case FIR number 385/2023 under section 379 of the IPC was registered at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation taken up.
During investigation, the same party of Police Post Sidhra apprehended two suspects identified as Mohammad Faryard and Fazal Hussain, residents of Batra, Sidhra, Jammu.
The duo confessed to their involvement in the crime during sustained questioning and on their disclosure, the stolen poles and a motorcycle used for the commission of the offence was recovered.
Further investigations in both the cases are underway.
