Roads damaged in natural calamity restored: Wani

JAMMU, Feb 18: Minister for R&B Abdul Majid Wani today informed the House that temporary restoration of the damaged roads due to natural calamity during last and current fiscal in Nagrota constituency stands done by expending Rs. 89.40 lakh, adding that traffic is plying on the said roads.
Replying to a question by Jugal Kishore (BJP) in the House, the Minister informed that no road project under NABARD and CRF has been proposed for funding in Nagrota constituency during current financial year. He, however, informed that under PMGSY the construction and upgradation of Gorda to Jakhar, Padami to Galali, Sarikhurad to Suhwad, Tara to Dohai and Baleeni to Katal-batal in Nagrota constituency have been proposed under phase -X.
Replying to the supplementaries raised by some members, the Minister said that due care should be given to complete all ongoing road projects besides taking up of new road projects under PMGSY in the State. He said different disputes and impediments confronting the execution of some road projects are being solved vigorously in coordination with concerned departments. He said for upgradation of roads the concerned MLAs would be consulted to give their priorities.
Harshdev Singh, Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, A. R. Veeri and Ashwani Kumar raised supplementaries and demanded timely completion of road projects besides taking up of new road projects in their constituencies.
Replying to another question by Mohammad Sharief Niaz, the Minister informed that habitations of Saranga Konthle, Hojabhola, Punej Kothi, Dhoki Dhalla, Kangota Gathi, Manogita, Nali-Mikiyas, Shirdi Kanduloji Kirlo and Toti Mahjandhanji in Doda district have been covered in the core network of PMGSY.
The Minister said that habitations of Siri Tipri, Panigrass Darbani, Bhara Mandir Goda and Hamoot Tangarma have been recommended in the revised core network and submitted to MORD for approval.
Replying to another question by Peer Afaq, the Minister informed that eight structures have been removed so far and demolition of one structure is in progress from Nallabal Bridge at Nowshera to Police Station at Soura during the widening process of Khanyar-Zadibal road. He said an amount of Rs. 2.09 crore have been disbursed as compensation to the House/structure owners. He said the said portion of the road is likely to be completed in 2015-16.
Shamima Firdos raised supplementary and demanded compensation to those owners whose structures came under road widening in her constituency.
The Minister assured that matter would be looked into on priority for providing compensation to the structure owners, if any.
