Road connectivity to far flung areas priority of Govt: Wani

DODA, Oct 12: Providing road connectivity to rural and far flung areas of the State is priority of the Government.
This was stated by Minister for Roads and Buildings Abdul Majid Wani during his visit to Behota and Lal Draman.
He was also accompanied by Minister for Tourism and Culture G A Mir and MLA Inderwal G M Saroori.
Mr. Wani while addressing public gatherings at Behota and Lal Draman said that road connectivity is imperative for development of all other sectors and Government is committed for providing road connectivity to rural, far flung and other unconnected areas of the State. He also said that erstwhile district Doda is endowed with pristine natural beauty which can only be explored by providing road connectivity.
He said development of tourist related infrastructure at these tourist spots will definitely help in improving the socio-economic status of the people living in these areas.
The Minister also said that Government is committed to provide basic facilities like road connectivity, electricity, schools, health care etc to the people of the State. Appreciating the Central Government for providing liberal funding to the State, Abdul Majid Wani said that Centre is providing liberal funds to the State for its comprehensive development. Minister appealed to the youth to come forward and avail benefits of various Central and State Govt. sponsored self-employment schemes for setting up their own income generating units to become self-sufficient.
Minister for Tourism and Culture G A Mir also spoke on the occasion and reiterated the commitment of Government for developing tourism in rural and far flung areas of the state. He said that development of tourism sector in these areas is top priority of the present Coalition Government.
Later, the Ministers along with MLA Inderwal inaugurated the Forest Rest House at Lal Draman constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 36.365 lakh. DDC Doda Mubarak Singh, Chief Conservator Forest Roshan Jaggi, Conservator of Forests M M Gupta besides other senior officers of District Administration were also present on the occasion.
