Rising prices of essentials spoil public budget: Bhalla

JAMMU, Oct 26: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla has said that skyrocketing prices of essential commodities has hit the common man hard and spoil public budget ahead of festival season.
“It is not hard enough to describe how badly the middle classes and the poor families have been affected by the spiralling prices of essential commodities, which refuse to stabilise as no concern shown and promises made by the Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Planning Commission remained only on papers.” JKPCC vice president Raman Bhalla said while addressing public meeting at Ratnal in Bishnah Constituency today.
Bhalla said people are already suffering due to high prices of pulses, onions and petrol badly impacting their lives, but now there is long list of items under BJP Rule which has badly impacted all sections of society. Therefore, not only commodities that one purchases for household use but prices of things that one consumes just like that as they come out of office with friends or when they feel a little hungry are also reaching a point that one thinks twice before taking his friends to a tea stall. Tomato is selling for Rs 80 per kg. The soaring price of vegetables is really a source of worry,” Bhalla said.
JKPCC leader maintained that Inflation has not hit only buyers but sellers too. They keep things in stock but customers purchase them in small amount, sometimes a lot of edibles get stale in the shop. Rise in the prices of almost all the things, including essential commodities has become a common feature these days. Sudden and massive rise in prices causes an all-round spiral effect on prices of commodities that makes life of common people miserable. The prices of food grains have been rising continuously.
Taking a dig at the helms men, Bhalla said that the price spike of essential commodities is the outcome of inability of the government who have failed utterly to contain it in spite they seem least bothered about the problems being confronted by the people who feel cheated, exploited and pick pocketed themselves in BJP regime in every sphere of life.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include PCC secretary Shashi Sharma, Manhor Lal Mottan, Tara Singh, Mohinder Kumar and others.
