Jammu-Poonch road blocked as tanker over turns

POONCH, Oct 26: The Jammu-Poonch highway was blocked for about three hours after an oil tanker over turned on the road near Surankote during early hours today.
Official sources said that massive traffic jam was witnessed in Surankote area after a Petrol tanker over turned at Bypass road just near Potha. The vehicles remained trapped in the traffic jam for about three hours during morning hours.
Later, a recovery team of Indian Army executed successful operation recovering a civil tanker carrying approx 14000 KL of fuel which has toppled near Potha in district Poonch. The operation was unique due to simultaneous employment of three recovery vehicles inspite of the mountainous terrain which severely restricted the deployment of recovery vehicles. Prompt response of Army troops led to successful extrication with saving of approx 13500 ltr of fuel.
