Rising incidents of rape, atrocities on Dalits unfortunate: JKMC

SRINAGAR, Nov 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Mahila Congress (JKMC) today held `Mahila & Dalit Utpidan Virodhi Diwas’ at Party office Srinagar and expressed serious concern over the rising incidents of rape and atrocities against Dalits and others in the country.
J&K Mahila Congress as part of Nationwide programme Mahila and `Dalit Utpidan Virodhi Diwas’ launched by AICC, held an extraordinary function of Mahila Workers at Srinagar Party Office and hit out at the BJP Govt at centre for failing to ensure safety of women in the country, besides blaming it for unleashing atrocities on Dalits.
Mahila Congress vice president Shameema Raina presided over the function and described the crime against women and atrocities on Dalits, as very unfortunate and shameful.
Speaking on the occasion Shameema Raina said that women in the country were feeling insecure under the BJP Govt at Centre and in other BJP ruled states.
She also blamed BJP leadership for encouraging atrocities against Dalits in the country and said law and order situation has worsened under the present dispensation, resulting in people were living in fear due to the wrong policies adopted it (BJP Govt).
Congress party would intensify its fight against the atrocities on Dalits and rising incidents of rape in the country, Raina added and laid emphasis over ensuring safety and security of women, who were the worst hit under Modi Govt.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Shameema Sopori, Rafeeqa, Shameema Khan, Saira, Farhat Qureshi, Shameema Iqbal,  Shaheena, Gulshan, Syed Nazia, Haseen (Corporators), Shameema Mir, Rafeeqa Begum, Arifa, Nusrat and others.
