Residents urge admn to tackle rising monkey menace

REASI, Oct 4: The residents are getting frustrated with the consistent monkey menace in their streets.
Parks, Kalka Mandir, Saraswati Nagar, main bazaar are favourite and frequently visited spots of the monkeys. The monkey menace has increased to such a level that at times, they even enter the house, thereby terrifying the residents, specially the ladies and children.
Locals living near Reasi Park said, “We have this problem day in and day out on our streets. They are most active in morning and it become difficult to cross the street. Kids are also unable to play freely in the streets as they are terrified of the monkeys. Several people have stopped going for morning walk in the park due to the fear of monkeys. We need a permanent solution to this problem”.
A resident of Saraswati Nagar said, “We are most affected by these monkeys as they captured our street completely in the morning and evening. We are troubled as these monkeys pick up every packet which we bring to our home and also litter the garbage from the dustbins”.
A devotee in the Shiv Mandir Talab also complaint of the monkey menace as he said it becomes nearly impossible for them to prayer in the temple. Monkeys in large group come in the morning and try to attack the devotees.
The residents have requested the administration to work out ways to keep the monkeys away.
