JAMMU, Feb 13: Col SS Pathania, President Sainik Samaj Party, JKUT, has expressed concern over the alleged denial of justice to emergency, Short Service Commission (SSC) officers, including the women special entry commission, by the successive governments.
In a statement, he said the emergency, SSC, and women special entry commission officers have a great contribution in the service of the nation.
Presently, Pathania said, the officers have an engagement period of 10+4 years and around 25% of them get permanent commission, as many get extension of four years and rest of them have to restart their career afresh after 10+4 years.
He said that initially the officers were not even considered as ex-servicemen and were denied all facilities and privileges. “But with the passage of time facilities of ex-servicemen, canteen and medical facilities have been extended to them as well,” said Col Pathania.
“Two main grievances of these officers and women candidates are in terms of medical reimbursement through empanelled hospitals and no provision of pension on pro rata basis, based on the number of years rendered as a soldier in the defence of the nation,” he said.
Pathania urged the Union Government to end the anomalies in reimbursement of treatment in empanelled hospitals.
Pertinently, 100 percent reimbursement is given to the officers who have got permanent commission.
