RAMBAN, Mar 29: One labourer was killed, while two others were seriously injured after being hit by a rashly driven vehicle near CRPF Camp at Bhoom, falling under the jurisdiction of Chanderkote police station.
As per police sources, a Mahindra Auto load carrier without registration number being rashly and negligently driven towards Srinagar hit three labourers engaged in laying of telephone cables near CRPF Camp at Bhoom in Chanderkote.
Three profusely bleeding labourers were rushed to District Hospital Ramban, from where two were referred to a hospital in Srinagar, but one of them succumbed to his injuries near Qazigund.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Bashir, son of Mohammad Abdullah, a resident of village Sanabati Gujran Ukhral.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Qasim, son of Ahmed Din and Hasham Din, son of Faqira, both residents of village Sanabati Gujran Ukhral.
The deceased and injured persons were engaged as labourers in a telecommunication company for laying of cables.
The driver, who accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot, was chased and nabbed by the locals.
The accused driver has been identified as Rajinder Pradhan, son of Inder Pradhan of Orissa, at present Channi Himmat, Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 18/16 under Sections 279 and 337 RPC has been registered at Chanderkote police station and investigation started.
