Rajouri Hospital staff protests, goes on strike

RAJOURI, Aug 12: The staff of  District Hospital, Rajouri including doctors today went on strike in protest against the alleged manhandling of Medical Superintendant, his peon and ransacking of his office by some attendants of a patient on Monday.
Today morning, the doctors along with other paramedical and clerical staff  went on strike in the District Hospital to lodge their protest. They were demanding restoration of security at the hospital and action against the accused persons responsible for causing damage to hospital equipment and beating up Medical Officer and a class IV employee.
The normal work in the  hospital remained suspended  and no OPD, Labs and other units functioned. The patient had to suffer due to strike. Only emergency was allowed to partially function.
Later, Additional SP Rajouri Shiv Kumar  and SHO Yashpaul Jamwal reached there and assured the agitating doctors to take cognizance of the matter. They told that an FIR No. 425/2014 under Sections 353/147/427 RPC has been registered against seven persons allegedly involved in the incident. Later, the staff resumed duty after two and half hour of protest.
A police official said that Sarpanch Mohd Zaman, Shahbaz Mirza, Shahid Mirza, Asif Mirza,, Abid Mirza, and Khursheed Mirza have been booked by Rajouri police  for the offence and the investigation has been started.
