Rajendra calls for coordinated efforts for smooth conduct of I-Day functions

SRINAGAR, Aug 8: Stressing for effective and coordinated efforts for smooth conduct of Independence Day (ID) functions, Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar today said that efficient security arrangements would be put in place at all the venues of ID functions including Bakshi Stadium Srinagar, where the main function is being organised.
Mr. Rajendra was addressing a high level meeting convened at Police Control Room (PCR) here today to review the security arrangements with regard to State level function being held in summer capital.
Attended by officers from JKP, CRPF, intelligence and civil administration, the meeting discussed security, police bandobast, traffic arrangements and participation in the celebrations.
Mr. Rajendra asked the officers to work out a mechanism so that the efforts of all security agencies are properly coordinated at grass root level and lacunae, if any, are identified and removed well in advance. He asked to establish a control room at the venue to coordinate among different agencies related with the security. Large participation of people from all walks of life, making the celebrations more colourful and adequate deployment in and around the venues to ensure security during the celebration, was also discussed in the meeting.
The meeting sought reports from different nodal officers with various tasks with regard to composition of parade of different contingents, representing various state, central and other organizations during the celebrations.
IGP (Kashmir Zone), SJM Gillani and SSP Srinagar, Amit Kumar apprised the meeting through their power point presentations about the various arrangements put in place for state level function at Bakshi Stadium.
DGP stressed to focus on effective traffic arrangements also, making the function hassle free. He said that parking of vehicle should be ensured strictly in the identified parking slots so that the people attending the functions do not face any inconvenience. He said that while ensuring the security arrangements, it should be ensured that common citizens are not put to any discomfort during the celebrations.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADGP (Security), V. K. Singh, IGPs, A. G. Mir, Sunil Kumar and J. P. Singh, IGP CRPF Kashmir, DIG SKR, G. H. Bhat, DIGs CRPF, North and South, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. F. A. Lone, SSP Security, Javaid Koul, SSP PCR, Mir Imtiyaz Ahmed, Senior ADO PHQ, B. A. Shah and other police and civil officers.
