Raj Bhavan regrets inaction on Governor’s directions

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, May 11: Raj Bhavan today expressed serious concern over non-implementation of directions issued by the Governor, N N Vohra while chairing State Road Safety Council meeting in the month of February this year.
“Certain decisions had been taken in a meeting of the State Road Safety Council which was held during the recent spell of Governor’s Rule and, apparently, no action had so far been taken to implement them”, a spokesperson of the Raj Bhawan said.
It is pertinent to mention here that EXCELSIOR in its edition dated May 2 had exclusively carried a news-item highlighting that several Administrative Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners and other officers were flouting Governor’s directives on initiating measures to check accidents with impunity.
Meanwhile, Governor has expressed sincere sympathy over the loss of precious human lives in a tragic road accident which occurred near Latti in Udhampur district this morning.
Conveying his grief to the bereaved families, the Governor has prayed for the speedy recovery of all those injured in this ghastly accident. He has also expressed deep regret that despite the recurrence of fatal road accidents, definitive remedial steps have yet not been initiated.
