JAMMU, Nov 19: A Punjab resident was among two persons arrested along with 10 kilograms of poppy straw from Manda area, falling under the jurisdiction of Pacca Danga Police Station.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Pacca Danga Police Station laid a naka at Manda and intercepted a Tavera, which was coming from Srinagar to Jammu.
During checking, police recovered 10 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the two persons traveling in the vehicle and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Majid Ahmed Dar, son of Mohammad Ayub Dar, a resident of Kulgam and Dharampal, son of Swaran Chand, a resident of Balachor, Nawa Shehar, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 157/17 under relevant Sections has been registered at Pacca Danga Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Pacca Danga SI Dheeraj Nagpal made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO City Varun Jandial and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
