Protest victim gets Rs 3 lakh from PMRF on Dr Jitendra’s intervention

NEW DELHI, June 11: Prime Minister’s Office has sanctioned Rs three lakh for the treatment of Vijay Sharma who was seriously injured after a SRTC bus hit him at Koota on February 8 this year when people of Hiranagar and adjoining areas held a massive demonstration in the area protesting against the police harassment to people of Rassana and demanding the handing over of the Rassana murder case to CBI.
Sharma was immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital, Hiranagar for treatment but as his condition deteriorated the Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh who also represents the Kathua -Doda Lok Sabha Constituency on the insistence of his family members and relatives arranged his treatment at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana in Punjab.
The poor family however was unable to bear the cost of treatment at the Hospital and they approached Dr Jitendra Singh again who at the first instance got Rs 50,000 sanctioned from Prime Minster’s National Relief Fund for the treatment of Sharma.
After the victim came out from the coma and was discharged from Hospital, the family was unable to bear the cost of medicines and cost of travel for routine check ups being held periodically at DMC Ludhiana. It again approached the Union Minister who gave another requisition for sanctioning more amount from PM’s National Relief Fund and accordingly Rs 2,50000 were sanctioned by PM’s Office. A communication in this regard was made to protest victim, Vijay Sharma as well as Dr Jitendra Singh by PM’s Office vide letter No 82(8957)/2018 PMF.
