Protest rally taken out against doctor

LEH, Dec 31: Different political parties including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), District Congress Committee (DCC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and New Ladakh Movement (NLM) took out a protest rally against a doctor, who molested a girl in GMC Hospital Jammu.
The leaders of various political parties assembled at Leh Bazaar and took out a protest rally to Polo Ground here and burnt the effigy of the accused doctor demanding exemplary punishment against him.
Addressing the gathering, CEC LAHDC Dr Sonam Dawa condemned the incident and warned that any influential persons trying to favour the accused will not be tolerated. He said as he had heard some influential people are to shield the accused doctor, but Ladakhi people won’t tolerate such action.
CEC Dr Dawa urged Chief Minister to personally look into the issue. Former CEC LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar, Nominated Councillor for Women Rinchen Lhamo and many others also addressed the gathering.
Later, the protestors marched towards DC Office and submitted a joint memorandum to the Chief Minister through the office of the Deputy Commissioner Leh.
Meanwhile, MLA Nubra Deldan Namyal in his message to Ladakhi public assured to raise the issue in the upcoming assembly session.
