JAMMU, May 11: Protest sparked over mysterious death of a missing minor boy whose body was found from a canal in Jourian area of tehsil Akhnoor yesterday.
Irate relatives along with locals of Domana area blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway at Domana and demanded registration of murder case against the accused tutor, who killed 11th class student.
As per reports, a youth identified as Harmeet Choudhary (17), son of Krishan Lal, a resident of Purkhoo on May 2 went to tuition and since then he was missing. Yesterday his body was recovered from a canal in Bakore area of Jourian in tehsil Akhnoor.
Relatives of the deceased along with locals blocked the Jammu-Poonch road and placed the body of the youth on the road.
The vehicular movement on the Jammu-Poonch Highway came to standstill as the protesters blocked the traffic movement for around one hour leading to long traffic snarls.
The protesters were demanding action against the SHO Domana for his inaction, despite lodging of missing report.
They further said that the call records of mobile phone of deceased showed that he had a long and frequent conversation with his tutor, which raised suspicion, but police failed to take any action in this regard.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu Ajit Kumar Sahu and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu reached the spot and assured the protesters about action if any one found guilt behind the death of the boy.
“Mr Sahu reached the spot and assured us that strict action will be taken against the guilty and also assured fair probe into the matter”, said a relative.
On the assurance, the vehicular movement on Jammu-Poonch Highway was restored.
