JAMMU, May 11: Alleging that most of the ration dealers in the State are adopting corrupt and illegal practices, Kranti Dal has demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
The demand was raised by president, Kranti Dal, Pritam Sharma, while addressing a press conference here today. He said there should be a CBI probe into corrupt and illegal practices adopted by the ration dealers particularly those against whom enquiries and complaints are pending.
Sharma disclosed that on one of the representations filed by Manmohan Kumar, Panch of Ward No 10, Panchayat Halqa, Maralia, Block RS Pura, District Jammu, the TSO RS Pura on the directions of Director CAPD, Jammu carried out physical inspection of the ration cards of Krishna Nagar under Panchayat Halqa Maralia, recently, which revealed that 105 fake/fictitious names have been running in the records of ration dealer of Krishna Nagar, who has been drawing ration for the 105 fake persons since long causing a huge loss to the State exchequer.
In course of physical inspection it came to the fore that some persons are having double ration cards which are not possible without the patronage of the concerned department, he said and demanded strong action against Sarpanch, Panchayat Maralia, and concerned ration dealer.
Alleging that ration dealers, who are supposed to issue ration on the basis of census 2011-12, are issuing ration on the basis of census carried out in the year 2001, the Kranti Dal president demanded clarification from the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
