Protest in Mendhar, road blocked

MENDHAR, Mar 14: The Sumo operators and traders held strong protest demonstration against the  RDD authorities and the local administration for their alleged failure for making arrangements to lift garbage dumped at Bus Stand and main market.
Today, a large number Sumo and minis bus operators and traders assembled near Bus Stand Mendhar and started protest demonstration. They were raising slogans against Block Development and Panchayat Department  as they collect Adda from the Bus/ Sumo operators at the rate of Rs 20 and Rs 20 per vehicle but do not ensure cleanliness and lifting of garbage. They alleged that due to rain during last 2-3 days, there was massive water logging and heaps of garbage were found scattered and floating in the area, giving foul smell. The authorities failed to  lift garbage and the public was left to suffer.
They blocked Mendhar-Jammu road for about two hours. Later, in the form of protest rally they   moved to the office of SDM and submitted a memorandum there. The SDM Sher Singh and SHO assured them that concerned RDD staff will be pulled for this lapse.
