JAMMU, Mar 4: Protesting against the inhumane killing of a youth, Mohd Yaqoob, in Sarore incident recently, Gujjars and Bakkerwals today blocked main Tawi bridge near Vikram Chowk for hours.
A large number of Gujjars and Bakerwals participated in the protest and raised slogans against the police department.
State president, Gujjars Bakkerwals, Choudhary Nazakat Khatana, while speaking on the occasion said that the murderers of the youth are wandering without any fear. He said that it is obvious that the SHO, DSP of Bari Brahmana and DC Samba had mutually planned the incident, deliberately opened fire and killed the youth.
“Suspending concerned SHO is not enough” he said and appealed to convict him and concerned DSP under Section 302 of IPC.
“Muslims still love our country but some agents and anti national elements who do not want the unity among Hindus and Muslims are creating differences and thus dividing the people on the basis of religion”, he said adding there are numerous false cases against these nomads under Sec 188 at Nagrota police station, which also indicates the harassment of Muslims.
The protesters demanded that the reality behind the whole scene be investigated so that all the culprits and guilty be punished and an appropriate action taken to rehabilitate the affected families for their welfare and sympathy.
