MENDHAR, Mar 4: A Village Level Worker (VLW) was placed under suspension after the allegation of embezzlement of Government funds in Balakote block of district Poonch and an inquiry was also ordered into the matter.
Official sources said that on the basis of public complaints about the massive irregularities, misappropriation of funds in Nakka Majari Panchayat (Middle) of Balakote Block, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Poonch MH Malik, the ACD Poonch, Basharat Ahmed suspended VLW, Gul Faiz. Her husband Tanveer Ahmed is Sarpanch in the same Panchayat.
The preliminary inquiry indicated that this official of the RDD in connivance with the Sarpanch, a Junior Engineer and a GRS posted in the area, committed massive irregularities during last 4-5 years. Even the money was found withdrawn against NREGA works during last year on the job card of one Mohd Aslam, who died during 2009. The DC directed Project Officer DRDA, Poonch, Zubair Ahmed to hold inquiry and submit report within ten days. Gul Faiz after suspension was attached to the office of BDO Balakote.
