Protest continues at Jagti

JAMMU, Apr 30: A protest sit-in was held by the Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front J&K at Jagti township today . Addressing the protesters Shadi Lal Pandita president JTC and SKF said that they have been on protest Sit-in for 547 days to resolve the issues of displaced Kashmiri Pandits but there is no one in UT and Central Government to listen their woes. Pandita said that they were demanding enhancement of monthly cash relief from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 .
He said that the UT and Central Government is ignoring the relief holders and forcing the exiled community to hold protest sit-in .They said that unemployment has increased in our community and the educated youth of the community is being destroyed. The members said that there are thousands of families in Kashmiri Pandits who have not been given a single job by the Government till date. They said in such houses and families first one job should be given as soon as possible. Further they said 32 years property loss pending Ex-gratia relief of gutted houses and without interest bank loans for over-aged youth to be given immediately. Illegal occupation of land properties religious places should be removed in Kashmir Valley. Three townships should be set up near Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag to resettle Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir Valley. For political reservation five Assembly seats and three Parliamentary seats should be given to Kashmiri Pandits and also minority status to be given to Kashmiri Pandits.
Others who were participating in the protest sit in were Ravi Koul ,P N Koul, Vinod Bhat ,Vijay Bakshi, Satish Pandita, Mithan Pandita, Sunil Suri, Gurmeet Singh, Jaswant Singh ,G M Khan and others.
