Protest after youth beaten up by cops

RAJOURI, Apr 13: The people held protest and blocked Rajouri-Kalakote road at Jawahar Nagar for about 40 minutes after a local youth was allegedly beaten up by cops today.
Reports said a bike- rider Sanjeev Kumar, son of Vakil Singh of Ward No. 5, Rajouri town had some altercation with the constable Mukesh Kumar over number plate issue. The youth was taken to Police Station and allegedly beaten up by Mukesh and some other cops. Later, the locals came to know about the matter and they blocked road at Jawahar Nagar Chowk at around 10.15 am and started protest against police.
Later, DySP Headquarters Hamid Choudhary and SHO Rajouri Yash Pal Singh reached there and assured the agitating people to take action in this regard. The people then lifted dharna and allowed movement of traffic.
