Prof Kaul bags prestigious IAVP Award

JAMMU, Nov 2: Prof. P.L. Kaul an eminent Scientist, Educationist, Social & Rights activist and former, Prof & Head & Dean S.D. Agricultural University (Gujarat) and son of the soil has been conferred with prestigious IAVP Award and citation, at the inaugural function of IAVP Conference during 22-24th of October 2018, held at S.K. Nagar, Gujarat.
The Award was bestowed upon him by the Vice Chancellor of the University and former Assistant Director General, ICAR in presence of galaxy of heads of Institutes, ICAR officials, Deans and Directors, Scholars and the participants from across the country. During award ceremony function, citation about Prof. Kaul’s contribution and achievements were highlighted and read before the gathering.
Prof. Kaul, while delivering his most important and invited Oration Lecture on “Hydrofluorosis” said it is a threatening global problem and India and China are the worst affected countries in the world. It is a disease caused by high concentration of Fluoride in water (Above permissible level of 1.5 ppm) fluoride contaminated water, affecting more than 66 million people of India including 6 Million children under 14 years of age, resulting into Dental and Skeletal fluorosis. It was emphasized that Flouride is the Priority Pollutant and becoming a threat to continual existence of plant, animal and Human Ecosystem. Prof Kaul gave a detailed status of the disease and explained its genesis.
Keeping in view the growing incidence of disease in different parts of the country and its impact on rural economy, Prof. Kaul framed the National Policy on Animal Fluorosis for its prevention, control and management which is the need of the hour and this was approved as one of its recommendation which would be sent to Government. India New Delhi. Prof. Koul’s scintillating and powerful oratory on the topic dazzled the scientific community and all present there and the entire audience give a standing ovation and president of IAVP, was very much appreciative of Prof. Koul’s contributions.
