Dr Rekha elected vice-president of IAP North Zone

JAMMU, Nov 2: Dr Rekha Harish, Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics, GMC Jammu brought laurels to the State by getting elected to the coveted national post of vice president, North Zone for the year 2019 in the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), elections for which concluded recently.
The Indian Academy of Pediatrics is a national body of Pediatricians from all over the country and comprises of more than 25000 registered pediatrician members who are the eligible voters, out of which only 110 belong to the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Dr Rekha defeated her opponent, Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics from Jodhpur, by a significant margin.
A graduate and postgraduate from King George’s Medical College Lucknow, Dr Rekha Harish has over 3 decades of teaching experience in the field being examiner for MBBS DCH MD as well as PhD in various universities in North India. She has been instrumental in leading her team to steeply bring down the hospital based mortality rates in Jammu region despite the immensely increased admission rates in children of all ages and especially neonates in the last 9 years.
North Zone of IAP includes J&K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan.
