Prakash inspects site for International Trade Centre

SRINAGAR, May 13: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash today inspected the ongoing construction work of the building of Government Joinery Mill, Pampore, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 7.21 crore. He also sought appraisal from the workers about their grievances and difficulties faced by them.
Interacting with the workers, the Minister said that the Government has given special focus to promotion of artisans, adding that talent is present among the artisans of the State but need is to provide them a platform. He asked the workers to work with dedication, adding full support will be given by the Government in this regard.
The Minister also visited Sempora, Pampore and inspected the proposed site for construction of International Trade Centre spread over 361 kanals of land. The project will cost about Rs. 98.70 crore.
The Minister directed plantation of the boundary of the premises for its beautification. He also asked them for making provision for construction of huts on modern lines, for accommodating at-least 100 to 200 persons, so that tourist can stay during their visit to the centre.
Later, the Minister visited Kashmir Haat Srinagar and inspected various sections including willow craft, wood carving, metal and paper machie and took stock of the facilities available to the artisans.
Mr. Ganga also visited Craft Museum School and got appraisal about the museum. The Director Handicrafts briefed the Minister about the activities of Kashmir Haat.
The Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) officials briefed the Minister about the proposed project for up-gradation of Kashmir Haat.
The Minister directed the concerned to speed up the pace of work and complete the repair and renovation works within a stipulated time frame.
