SRINAGAR, May 13: Col. Sudhir Chamoli, Commanding Officer of 5/5 Gorkha Rifles and Major Sumit Sood of this Battalion called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
In his interaction with the officers, the Governor lauded the Army’s commendable role in maintaining a constant vigil along the frontiers.
Meanwhile Tufail Mattoo, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), called on Governor and brief him about the to-date status of various activities being carried out by the SMC, which included sanitation drives, solid waste management, ensuring food safety, granting building permissions etc.
The Governor advised Mr. Mattoo to effectively enforce all required measures which would improve the face of Srinagar and contribute towards further enhancing its standing as being among the leading tourist destinations in the country.
