JAMMU, Sept 24: Political activist, Eshfaq ur Rehman Poswal has written a letter to the President of India requesting that Gojri should be considered for inclusion in the list of official languages of J&K UT.
In a handout Poswal claimed that sentiments of 7-8 lakh nomadic Gujjar population of J&K are attached with Gojri language ignoring which will be injustice with Gujjar community.
He also claimed that he has also written to the Prime Minister and Rajya Sabha Chairman in this regard. Poswal said that Gujjars constitute the third largest community in J&K which speaks Gojri.
He expressed gratitude to Rajya Sabha Chairman for considering his request pertaining to Gojri and forwarding the same to MHA for consideration.
