JAMMU, Feb 7: In the much-publicized case of undue security cover to Kewal Sharma, Forest Guard-cum-PRO to the former Deputy Chief Minister, Home Department has informed the State High Court that Jammu Police has given evasive reply and it has not disclosed the details of police officers under whose orders police personnel were deployed with the PRO.
“Pursuant to the directions dated December 22, 2014, PHQ vide letter dated January 12, 2015 was requested to submit a report within four days in context of the information provided under RTI Act that 3 guard and 4 PSOs had been provided to Kewal Sharma and also particulars of officers under whose instructions the security was provided”, Additional Secretary Home Department, Sudershan Sharma said in a report submitted to the High Court.
Stating that no report has so far been received from the Director General of Police, the Additional Secretary said, “District Police Jammu has, however, informed that one man was deployed on PSO duty on December 3, 2011 and four men on guard duty on July 27, 2013”.
“All this was done by Jammu Police on the telephonic directions of some senior police officers and there is no written record to this effect”, the report said.
The Additional Secretary said that since the reply of District Police Jammu is evasive and doesn’t give the details of the police officers under whose orders police personnel were deployed with Kewal Sharma, DGP has been asked to clearly indicate the names of police personnel along with their ID Nos and wings to which they belonged to and also the particulars of their controlling officers, who relieved them for deployment with Kewal Sharma.
