Police rescues 46 bovine animals

JAMMU, Feb 8: In continuation to its drive against Bovine Smuggling, District Police Kathua, Samba and Ramban foiled bovine smuggling bids and rescued 46 bovine animals respectively in their respective jurisdictions today.
As per reports a police team of Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur in Kathua district foiled bovine smuggling attempt in its jurisdictional area and rescued 16 bovine animals. Accused was arrested and the vehicle carrying bovines illegally was seized on the spot.
Police said a team of PS Lakhanpur while performing vehicle checking duty today noticed a suspicious truck bearing Registration Number, JK02AR-1385 which was being driven by the driver namely, Talib Hussain @Sonu S/o Qasim Din R/o Basantpur tehsil and district Kathua.
After stopping for the vehicle was found carrying 16 bovines illegally. All the 16 bovines were later rescued.
By taking the cognizance of the case FIR Number 25/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11/PCA Act has been registered in concerned Police Station and investigation has been set into motion, accordingly.
The drive was launched under the overall supervision of Additional SP Kathua , Ramnish Gupta and on the directives of SSP, Kathua, Dr Sailendra Kumar Mishra
In Samba district three attempts to smuggle bovines were foiled by rescuing 15 animals in three separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Ghagwal.
Police said a team of PS Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, stopped a Mahindra vehicle having Registration Number JK0BJ-5398 coming from Kathua side and heading towards Valley for checking.
During checking of the vehicle, five cattle were found laden inside it without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on the spot. In this connection, a case FIR No. 26/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
In another similar incident, police party of PS Ghagwal also rescued five more bovines during naka checking at NHW Tapyal which were being transported in a Mahindra vehicle having Registration Number JK02AT-8877 moving towards Valley.
A case FIR No. 27/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
Later five more bovines were also rescued by a police party of PS Ghagwal at naka NHW Tapyal which were being transported in a Tata Mobile vehicle without Registration number. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
A case FIR No. 28/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation taken up.
Meanwhile, a police team of PS Batote foiled bovine smuggling bid at Nashri Naka while checking vehicles a truck bearing Registration Number JK02BR-9717, which was being driven by one Nisar Ahmed, S/O Ghulam Qadir R/O Anantnag found 15 animals loaded in it.
Police party after stopping the vehicle during the checking found 15 bovines were loaded illegally and in cruel manner in it. All the bovines were rescued, vehicle involved seized and driver of vehicle was arrested.
In this connection a case, FIR No. 09/2021 U/S 188/IPC 11/PCA Act stands registered at the Batote Police Station and further investigation taken up
The action of Nashri Naka Police party led by SHO PS Batote, Inspector, Ranjit Rao was directly supervised by Rajinder Chib, DySP Headquarters, Ramban and overall supervision of Haseeb-ur-Rehman SSP Ramban.
