KATHUA, May 22:- District police, Kathua has recovered 100 lost/stolen mobile phones, including three Apple iPhones, with a total estimated value of Rs. 17,01,000/- (Rupees Seventeen Lakh and One Thousand only).
Police said that complaints regarding these missing/stolen mobile phones were lodged at various Police Stations across district Kathua. Acting swiftly, the dedicated and professional team of the IT Section, DPO Kathua traced and recovered the handsets using technical assistance and sustained efforts over the last two months.

Police said the recovered mobile phones were traced from multiple locations including J&K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi. Today, after proper verification and completion of legal formalities, the recovered handsets are being handed over to their rightful owners.
District police Kathua has so far recovered around 600 stolen/ lost mobile phones during the last two years, with an approximate total value of Rs. 1,06,30,000/- (Rupees One Crore Six Lakh Thirty Thousand only), police said.
Besides, Cyber Police Station, Kathua has recorded significant success in tackling online financial frauds. From January 2026 to April 2026, the Cyber PS Kathua has recovered a defrauded amount of Rs. 33,84,692/- in multiple cyber complaints. Since its establishment, Cyber Police Station, Kathua has recovered a total defrauded amount of Rs. 1,77,81,922/- in various cyber fraud cases through prompt action, freezing of fraudulent transactions, and coordination with banks, payment gateways, and service providers.
