JAMMU, May 9: Police have foiled a plan by the land grabbers to encroach upon 60 kanals of Forest land at Kargil Colony in Bhatindi area.
Police said they acted after getting a complaint that some influential persons were trying to encroach upon Forest land at Kargil Colony in Bhatindi.
Police foiled the bid to encroach upon the land and registered a case against the unnamed accused under Section 447 and Forest Act for further investigations.
Police have meanwhile written to the Revenue authorities for demarcation of the land to identify whether the land in question was State, Forest or Revenue land.
SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq said after receipt of the report from the Revenue Department, the concerned department would be asked to fence the land so that no fresh attempt was made to encroach it.
