SAMBA/KATHUA, Apr 29: In continuation to its drive against the illegal sale of liquor in the districts of Kathua and Samba Bari Brahmana police in district Samba today arrested three persons and destroyed 23 liters of lahan inside a factory situated at Nihalki, Bari Brahmana while Excise Sleuths destroyed 650 liters of lahan in Kathua district.
Acting on reliable information, police team of P/S Bari Brahmana conducted raid inside the Gula factory situated at Nihalki, Bari Brahmana and apprehended three persons red handed manufacturing Desi liquor illegally. The accused persons were identified as Kamlesh Bin S/o Nawal Bin of Kusumbahall Sapura, Bihar, Balu Bin, S/o Johari Bin of Jhanghi Diwaldaria, Bihar and Mukesh Bin, S/o Ramji Bin of Bachiya Bhiga, Bihar. All of them were presently residing at Gula Factory Nihalki, Bari Brahmana.
Around 23 liters of freshly prepared lahan was destroyed which on further dilution would have made around 150 to 180 liters of desi liquor. Moreover around three liters of illicit Desi liquor was also seized on spot along with the stills, utensils which were being used for the manufacture of illegal Desi liquor.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 85/2020 U/S 48(A)/ 48(B)/ 48(E)/ 48(D)/ 50 Excise Act stands registered at P/S Bari Brahmana and investigation started.
The Excise Department destroyed 650 Kgs of lahan during different raids carried out to arrest the menace of illicit distillation and its sale Kathua.
On the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu S. Amarjeet Singh, ETO Excise Range Kathua, Virender Kumar a team of Excise Range Kathua led by Inspector Excise, Arun Kumar comprising of SI Nitin Sharma and Excise Guards, Jyoti Prakash Sharma, Barun Sharma and Charan Dass raided the Chack Drab Khan, Jakhbhar Dhambra and Upper Sakta Chack areas of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
In the process, 650 Kgs of lahan, raw material of illicit liquor, which is highly hazardous and injurious to health was recovered by the raiding team from State land and later destroyed on spot.
