SRINAGAR, Apr 29: Police, in coordination with district administration and revenue authorities, demolished illegal properties and assets linked to individuals involved in NDPS cases in Anantnag and Shopian under the anti-drug campaign.
In Anantnag, multiple illegal roadside eateries constructed on state land along NH-44 at Sangam were demolished.
These included “Kashmir Restaurant (Dabba)” owned by Gul Mohammad Mir and Bashir Ahmad Mir, “Taj Restaurant (Dabba)” linked to Mohammad Maqbool Mir and his sons Aijaz Ahmad and Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mir, and “MIR Restaurant” belonging to Amma Mir.

In Shopian, authorities removed illegally planted poplar and cherry trees and demolished unauthorized shops constructed on state land.
The action targeted assets linked to Inayat Lone of Melhura, Abdul Hamid of Wachi, and Sajad Ahmad Dar of Marhenz, all involved in NDPS cases registered at Police Stations Zainapora and Shopian.
Officials said all operations were conducted following due legal procedures and in the presence of civil and police officers.
Police also arrested four alleged drug peddlers and recovered over 5 kilograms of contraband in multiple operations across South Kashmir under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, officials said today.
In Pulwama, a police party from Police Post Sangerwani intercepted two suspects during naka checking at Khaigam.
A search led to the recovery of approximately 636 grams of ganja from their possession.
Police said both were taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 70/2026 has been registered at Police Station Rajpora, while the investigation is underway.
In another operation in Pulwama, Police Station Litter conducted a search at the residence of Mohd Abass Thoker of Audoora, in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and following due legal procedures.
During the search, 212 grams of charas-like substance in powder form was recovered.
A case under FIR No. 50/2026 has been registered at Police Station Litter.
Separately, in Anantnag, Police Station Kokernag apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking at Dodhkol Adhal Vailoo.
The accused attempted to flee but was apprehended. A search resulted in the recovery of approximately 4.4 kilograms of charas.
A case under FIR No. 36/2026 has been registered, and further investigation has been initiated to trace the supply network.
In the meantime, Police today intensified enforcement, inspection and awareness drives across Pulwama, Shopian and Baramulla under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
In Pulwama, police conducted coordinated search operations and Cordon and Search Operations at multiple locations, including Rajpora, Rahmoo and Lelhar, targeting suspected drug peddlers. A drug store in Pulwama town was sealed in coordination with the Drug Inspector for violations related to controlled substances.
Inspections of medical shops were also carried out to prevent misuse of psychotropic drugs and ensure compliance with norms.
