JAMMU, Aug 20: Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Faisal Qureshi, Additional SP Samba which was constituted by SSP Samba in connection with the dumping of religious books of a particular community at the godowns of Scrap dealers to be used as raw material in making packaging boxes, arrested a scrap dealer namely Sanjay Gupta S/o Chaman Lal R/o Paloura Jammu, at present Kaluchak Jammu.
During questioning, Sanjay Gupta disclosed that he had purchased such books from scrap dealers of Srinagar. Accordingly, team was sent to Srinagar and two other scrap dealers have also been arrested from Srinagar in coordination with P/S Bemina namely Bilal Ahmed S/o Nazir Ahmed and Amir Ahmed S/o Farooq Ahmed, both residents of Noorbagh Srinagar. A case under FIR No. 123/2015 u/s 295/295-A/34 RPC has already been registered at Police Station Bari-Brahmna against the management of M/s Jamuna Alloys Ltd. running at Phase-II Bari-Brahmna where these religious books were found dumped and other culprits.
Police said another godown belonging to a Scrap dealer namely Rakesh Kumar S/o Tilak Raj R/o New Plot Jammu, who runs his business of scrap at Purmandal Morh, Samba was also sealed where these religious books were found dumped. Accordingly, Case under FIR No. 126/2015 u/s 295/295-ARPC also registered against him and his accountant namely Kuldeep Singh S/o Baisakhi Ram R/o House No. 386 Jeevan Nagar, Jammu has been arrested on spot, police added..
It may be recalled that people of a particular community have lodged protest against the scrap dealers who have dumped their religious books /material for using as scrap/ raw material in making packaging boxes. Today, a meeting of nearly all the scrap dealers operating in District Samba was called by Faisal Qureshi, at Bari-Brahmna which was also attended by Administrator, Aquaf Samba alongwith SDM Bari-Brahmna, Tehsildar Bari-Brahmna as well as other prominent/religious persons of Bari-Brahmna town. During the meeting, it was decided to constitute two teams headed by SDM Bari-Brahmna and Tehsildar Bari-Brahmna assisted by SDPO Bari-Brahmna & SHO Bari-Brahmna alongwith the members of Aquaf Samba and Prominent/ religious persons, which would survey the entire godowns of scrap dealers operating in District Samba and confiscate all such religious material if any, found, in any of the godown and that particular godown/factory would be sealed by the orders of Magistrate concerned.
It was further decided that proper disposal as per the religious sanctity would be carried out if any such material found in the godowns of scrap dealers/factories. Till evening, searches were carried out by these teams in 30 godowns, out of which 03 godowns have been sealed by Police on the orders of SDM Bari-Brahmna from where such religious material found.
