Police arrests drug peddler, seizes heroin, Rs 50,000 cash

KATHUA, Sept 27: In its decisive action against drug peddlers within the district Kathua, police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal nabbed one drug peddler with 8.50 grams of heroin like contraband, cash amount of Rs. 50300 recovered one vehicle seized and arrested one person involved.
Police said yesterday a team led by Inspector, Om Parkash Chib, SHO, Police Station (PS) Kathua under the supervision of Dy SP Headquarters, Kathua, Shammi Kumar during patrolling duty at Kullian Chack Drab Khan noticed one suspected vehicle (Scooter) bearing Registration Number, JK08-6266 which was directed to stop for checking. Sensing danger driver of the vehicle managed to fled away and one person was arrested.
On thorough checking approximately 8.50 grams of Heroin like contraband and cash amounting to Rs. 50300 was recovered from illegal possession of pillion rider namely Amar Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar of Kullian Chack Drab Khan, Kathua who further disclosed the name of scooter driver as Shehzad alias Chotu, son of Akhter Khan of Upper Mohalla Chack Drab Khan, Kathua who managed to fled away from the spot. Meanwhile all the recovered material and one vehicle seized and one person involved was arrested.
A case vide FIR No. 425/2021 under section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Kathua and further investigation into the case was started.
