JAMMU, Nov 21: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust, the nodal organization for the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill, has launched a public awareness campaign to make the people aware of the great destruction and damage to the temples in the Valley as well as the encroachment and occupation of the shrine lands and the need for the passage of the Shrine Bill for the protection and preservation of the temple heritage and properties in Kashmir.
In this connection series of interactive meetings were held at Patoli (Badshah Kalandar Ashram), Lale Da Bagh and Talab Tillo, over the past week. PNBMT members and the participants expressed strong resentment against the Government for not passing the Shrine Bill and leaving the great temple heritage of Kashmir in neglect and at the mercy of the vested interests and the land grabbers.
The meetings was attended by a galaxy of the community including Dr A N Pandita, Dr B L Handu, Dr. R L Bhat, B L Saraf, H L Bhat, M K Raina, Shiban Khaibri, Sundri Lal Koul, Pyare Lal Bhat, B L Bhat, B L Zar, M M Thaplo, Bansi Lal Hando, Balji Maju, M K Razdan, Dr. T K Bhat, S K Raina, Sundri Lal Koul, Rameshji Razdan, A K Raina, Jaikumar Bhat, Prediman Krishan Goja, M K Jalali, Shadi Lal Koul, P N Gango, Roshal Lal Pandita, Rattan Lal Razdan, Rajinder Saraf, Rajinderji, Rohit Bhat among others. The speakers exhorted the people to attend the Chetna Divas 2015 in large numbers to lend their support to the concensus demand of the community.
The speakers demanded that the shrine Bill be passed in the forth coming session of the Legislature so that an elected Shrine Board would be in place by the next year to take over the function of protection and preservation of the shrines and temples.
The participants gave information about the reports of the new cases of land grabbing of the temples and shrine lands from a number of areas from Kupwara to Bijbehara seeking immediate action against the encroachers and the land mafia violating the religious lands in Kashmir. PNBMT is planning to hold more corner meetings and public interactions to highlight the dire need for the protection and preservation of the temples and the religious properties of Hindus in Kashmir.
