KATHUA, June 26: In continuation of its pursuit to enhance agricultural credit, Punjab National Bank (PNB) in coordination with Agriculture Department, conducted a Kissan Credit Cards (KCC) mela here today.
The function was inaugurated by Jitender Kumar Singh, District Development Commissioner, Kathua, accompanied by Mohd Latif Mir, Deputy General Manager, Circle Head J&K.
120 KCC were distributed to the farmers involving a credit outlay of Rs 1.30 crore in the function. The function was organized in coordination with Agriculture Department
Speaking on the occasion, M L Mir said that KCC scheme is beneficial for the farmers in boosting their agriculture activities and helps them in meeting timely short term credit requirements for cultivation of crops, post harvest expenses and profitable marketing of their produce. He urged the farmers to utilize the credit judiciously and repay the loan within the tenure for the success of the scheme.
He requested farming community of the area to avail ATM based KCC facility from the Bank.
Encouraging the farmers to diversify into other allied agro based activities like horticulture and floriculture, he assured them all possible financial support from the Bank.
DDC Kathua appreciated the Bank’s commitment to reach every unbanked corner of the State by providing Kissan Credit Cards and other agro-based financial products to the farmers of the State.
A K Mota, Chief Manager, Circle Office Jammu, S S Chib, District Coordinator PNB, R C Sharma, Metar Singh, Principal, Government Degree College, LDM, B N Sharma, Chief Manager Kathua, Rakesh Kumar and Manoj Kumar both Manager Agriculture of the Bank and a large number of beneficiaries and staff members of the Bank were present.
