JAMMU, June 26: A delegation of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) met SSP Jammu and Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Migrants and urged them to ensure the power supply to Jagti camp failing which the camp inmates will be forced to resort to agitation again.
The delegation which was led by Shadi Lal Pandita, JTC chief said that Government was forcing the Jagti inmates to come to streets and road blockade by adopting discriminatory attitude towards them.
It informed them that the Prime Minister while announcing the construction of TRTs for migrants at Jammu had announced that they will be provided all facilities free of cost till their return to Valley and State Government was unnecessarily harassing them. It warned that no power tariff will be paid by the displaced people as they are leading a refugee life for last 23 years.
Meanwhile, AMCCC Youth president, Ravinder Pandita has expressed grave concern over the power crisis in Jagti camp and accused the Government of deliberately trying to harass the camp inmates.
He said youth will fully back the struggle of the camp inmates in particular and community in general and criticized the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Government’s discriminative policies towards migrants.
He said the State Government has coffers open for rehabilitation of surrendered militants along with their Pak wives but it has no money to provide facilities to displaced people thrown out from Valley by these militants.
He warned the displaced youth will not remain silent and tolerate the highhandedness of the Government any more.
